Paint was purchased (enough to repaint the entire room, not just a table and 4 little chairs) and we took a trip to IKEA to find some little chairs. Due to the huge over-supply of paint we decided on the plain chairs which we could then paint to match the table.
After sanding back the table and finding a little nook in our apartment in which to paint - it is times like this that you really miss having a back yard or a garage, as my little "nook" gave me exactly 3 inches of space on each side of the table and only about a meter at each end - painting began, transforming an shabby-chic table into a cute colourful table along with 4 little chairs to match.
Noah waited very patiently. The shopping, sanding and painting took one weekend and we then reassembled the table and began discussing how best to cut down the legs of the table. Apparently we needed to discuss this a lot. Noah now had a cute green and white table in his room that was approximately the same height he was, accompanied by 4 little green chairs which fitted neatly underneath. Noah wondered what this new table was for since he could not see the top.
However, last weekend, Nathan finally took up the challenge. After some initial hesitation about how to ensure all the legs would be even and level when using only a hand saw and having to take into consideration the strange angle at which the legs descended from the table to the ground, Nathan nailed it first go! a completely level table, no wobble factor and neat clean cuts on all the legs.
Noah finally has his table.
Drawing is frequently on our to-do list now, and tonight Noah even took up his own tools and made a few improvements on the table.
