Thankfulness

A very talented and inspiring friend has a blog entitled "361 reasons to be thankful" (you should all read it!). The basic notion is that every day, Buzz writes about one thing for which she is thankful. Over the last 28 days, I have been reminded everyday of all the things, big and small, for which I can be thankful, and every day I feel I need my little dose of thankfulness. So this is a little tribute to Buzz.

Today I am thankful for a baby who is coping really well with being weaned. I am thankful that he still gives me wonderful cuddles so that we can both still enjoy some quiet time together. I am thankful that this transition has gone so smoothly.

Today I am thankful for the group of women I have connected with through our new church. All Mums and all loving caring women who have welcomed me so warmly into their group.

Today I am thankful for Neil Perry's yummy nutritious quick pumpkin and pea risotto recipe, which means that at 5pm, I have dinner made for all three of us allowing me to write my blog)! And I am thankful for a baby who slept for over an hour whilst I prepared it.

Today I am thankful for lunch and coffee with a friend, who adores Noah. Nothing like a good chat over a coffee whilst watching your 1 year old flirt and perform for his friend!

Today I am thankful for Noah learning the sign for "more". This new communication breakthrough helps us avoid much crying and many tantrums when he just wants a few more blueberries or goes on the slippery dip.

Today I am thankful for the play-date we have tomorrow with Noah's music class mates. I love seeing him play with his little friends who we have met here in NYC.

"361 reasons to be thankful" reminds me constantly of all the reasons I have to be thankful and when we are living in a new city, without family, and when it is -16 degrees celsius outside, it is all too easy to whinge and complain and get depressed about all that ails us. But I am blessed - and I have only mentioned the little things which make me thankful. I have so many amazing blessings in my life which I think I will leave for another blog (or several).
